WELCOME!
My name is Audrey Draper, and I'm a music therapist! Music therapy is a research-based profession where a board-certified music therapist uses personalized music experiences to support clients in meeting non-musical goals.
My personal treatment philosophy emphasizes the use of person-centered therapy through the healing properties of music. My approach stresses the importance of recognizing that each individual person is their own change agent, meaning each person is capable of self-directed change, and I am there to serve as a guide and provide tools throughout the change process.Â
The primary tool I use in my treatment modality is client-preferred music. Each session is structured in such a way that may challenge the client to promote growth, but ultimately results in client success. As a music therapist, it is important for me to focus on the values of genuinity, unconditional positive regard, and empathic understanding when working with patients in order to assist them in pursuit of their goals. I also incorporate elements of mindfulness into my approach. I work to cultivate a safe and therapeutic environment, and my goal is to improve quality of life and promote health and wellness through music.
