Audrey Draper, MT-BC
Audrey Draper is a board-certified music therapist and owner of MusiCare Music Therapy. During her collegiate education, she completed several practicum experiences with a variety of populations, including geriatric clients with dementia, children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, adults in substance abuse recovery, and hospitalized adults in a transitional care unit. While completing her coursework, she was also able to provide therapeutic music experiences for youth in an eating disorder treatment center. After completing her coursework, Audrey secured a six-month internship with a skilled nursing unit in Colorado. She then graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy and passed the music therapy board certification exam through CBMT (Certification Board for Music Therapists).
During her internship, Audrey had the unique experience of providing mental health support to clients experiencing isolation and feelings of intense loneliness while being separated from loved ones during the onset of a global pandemic. During this time, she acquired unique adaptability skills and began to develop her person-centered treatment philosophy. Following her internship, Audrey continued to apply her skills by supporting the emotional, social, spiritual, cognitive, and physical needs of geriatric clients at an assisted living facility.
Audrey recently worked with the League of Idaho Cities, a subsidiary of the Association of Idaho Cities, in conjunction with the Tandem campaign to provide mental health workshops with a focus on building communication and coping skills, and destigmatizing mental health. She is passionate about the continued advocacy of music therapy and sharing the many benefits this field has to offer.
